Genre:

In
the bowels of an unassuming, ever-moving funerary parlor, a mortician
known as the Operator hides a fearsome machine called the Godwin,
rumored to have the ability to resurrect the dead. It runs, like a
soul does, on logos: on words. And in exchange for those words—for
a client’s life story—the corpse of their choosing might yet walk
again. Careful, though. Words bear weight, so one must choose them
wisely. Author M. Regan delivers a harrowing and beautiful glimpse
into a world filled with desire, darkness, love, and loss.

The gray-green Lichtenberg-like webbing of streaks making their way up Ms. Pruett’s arm can mean only one thing—zombies

Zombies
For Everyone

A
Jenna Sutton Supernatural Cozy Mystery Book 1

by
Kimberly Wylie

Genre:
Supernatural Cozy Mystery

Jenna Sutton is nothing like the iconic vampire slayer of TV fame.
She’s
the antithesis of a cheerleader. She’s not peppy. And she sucks at
gymnastics. She has nothing in common with the fictional Buffy, other
than being blonde and in high school…

Oh,
and occasionally she kills vampires for a living as well as other
things that go bump in the night.

Following
an attack on an English teacher at a nearby school, it becomes clear
this wasn’t an ordinary coyote bite. The gray-green
Lichtenberg-like webbing of streaks making their way up Ms. Pruett’s
arm can mean only one thing—zombies.

But
this isn’t a normal zombie attack. The victims seem to be
hand-picked.

Can
Jenna complete her investigation without the school administrators
figuring out she’s actually a high school student from another
school? Will Jenna be able to find out who’s behind these attacks
before a full-scale zombie outbreak overtakes the town? And, perhaps
most importantly…
Why did her best friend kiss her after all of these years?

I am a single mum of
two, who was lucky enough to grow up in Cornwall, where my interest
and enthusiasm for books was born. As a result of being located so
close to numerous ancient ruins, thus providing me with the ability
to roam and investigate, my inquisitive side got the better of me and
my passion for fantasy books and creative writing started to grow.

I
have lived all over the UK, including Cornwall, Darlington and
Newcastle. My first book began as an interactive bedtime story
for my eldest son who, like me, loves anything supernatural.

I write anything and
everything that comes to me, but young adult stories are my
favourite. I get lost in the stories and I am usually as surprised as
my readers by the end result.

My children’s
stories were written for, and about, my youngest son. During the
harder times in life, I have found that writing gives me a release
from the stress and often, as with the Danny series, helps others to
find a way around their problems.

My only hope is that those who
read my work enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

Chain Reaction

Nite Fire Book 2
If anyone can tell the difference between monsters and humans, it’s Dahlia Nite. For nearly a century, she’s hunted one to protect the other; safeguarding humanity from the creatures that slip through the torn veil between the worlds—creatures like her. But the lines are blurring. As people begin mutating and combusting on the streets, Dahlia realizes a strange affliction has descended upon Sentinel City. The mysterious ailment strikes all walks of life, from the posh, high-end nightclub district to the homeless community. Its victims, driven to random acts of savagery, are drawing attention too fast to cover up.
Assigned to the case, Dahlia and her human partner, Detective Alex Creed, investigate the deaths. But all they have are questions and bodies, and a public on the verge of panic. Working behind the scenes with her self-appointed sidekick, Casey Evans, Dahlia struggles to discover what, or who, is behind the alarming transformations. As the violence spreads and the mystery unfolds, she wonders: are the victims still human? Were they ever?
Chain Reaction is the second book in the Nite Fire Series.

Smoke & Mirrors

Nite Fire Book 3
Secrets are a dragon’s best friend. Deception is a close second. Both provide a sturdy armor, allowing half-dragon shapeshifter, Dahlia Nite, to live undetected among the humans. Walking in two worlds, belonging in neither, she wraps herself in a shroud of lies to hide in plain sight. But nothing stays hidden forever.
When dismembered bodies of multiple species are dumped on the riverbank, the case falls to Dahlia and Detective Alex Creed. Backed by Sentinel City’s new task force, the pair find themselves urged along by clues that seem too good to be true. Bouncing from one crime scene to the next, they hunt for a clear motive in a murky sea of conflicting evidence. Already on edge from the recent string of unexplained crimes, the city begins to unravel.

C. L. Schneider was born in a small Kansas town on the Missouri River. Growing up in a family of readers, all with diverse interests, she developed an early and avid love for the written word. Her fascination with science fiction stories and anything supernatural, as well as a keen interest in the Middle Ages, drew her to fantasy. At the age of sixteen, she wrote her first, full-length novel on a typewriter in her parents’ living room. While her primary focus is adult epic and urban fantasy, she dabbles in the occasional science fiction or post-apocalyptic story.
Schneider’s debut novel was The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price, the first book in her epic fantasy trilogy. The Crown of Stones is a gripping account of one man’s struggle to accept who and what he is. It’s the journey of a flawed hero, a fallen race, and a land at war. A page-turning tale of prejudice, betrayal, secrets, and lies.
“The Crown of Stones Trilogy evolved from the creation of my protagonist, Ian Troy. I wanted to construct not just a character, but a person that I, as a reader, would want to get lost in. One that would embody the characters I’d come to love from the stories I read in my childhood home, so many years ago. My goal was to develop a character that was capable of being both a cowboy and an outlaw, a detective when he needs to be, a monster when he can’t help it, and a hero even when he tries not to be.”
Her new series, Nite Fire, is a gritty, action-packed, urban fantasy featuring shapeshifters, dragons, parallel worlds, and various creatures of myth and legend.
C. L. Schneider lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband and two sons. An active member of the indie author community, you can often find her on social media chatting about the daily ups and downs of a writer’s life.

When Christian goes missing, I follow him into a world of deception, lies, and secret realms. No worries. I’ve got this

Throne of Silver
The Silver Fae Book 1
by K.B. Anne
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy
Meet Starr Bishop, the girl next door. Well, if the girl next door can deliver a dropkick to the throat and is possibly supernatural.
A secret organization wants me as an assassin. Me, kill someone? No way. The General also hints that I’m a superior being—whatever the hell that means. But it might explain the strange flickering thing that’s been happening to me lately.
And then there’s Christian, the goth-loner who casts disdainful glares in my direction like it’s his day job. When I go missing, he goes all superhero and finds me. And what’s with his eyes changing shape when he doesn’t think I’m looking at him?
Now there’s this crazy chemistry between us, but I must deny my feelings. Christian is a complication, and my life is complicated enough. If I give in, I could put both of our lives at risk, and I’ve already lost two friends because of the Organization.
But when Christian goes missing, I follow him into a world of deception, lies, and secret realms. No worries. I’ve got this. After all, the General wanted me as an assassin. If I can learn to tap into my true nature.
The trouble is, the Organization will stop at nothing to pick up their top recruit. Will I figure out what superior being I am before it’s too late?
If you like Linsey Hall, CN Crawford, Chandelle LeVaun, Leia Stone, Michelle Maddow, McKenzie Hunter, and Jaymin Eve, you’ll love the highly addictive Silver Fae series.

Silver Fae Hunter
The Silver Fae Book 2
Fae
aren’t real, right? Or at least that’s what I keep telling
myself.
 But
when my grandparents locked me in the library, thanks for that by the
way, I remembered things from my childhood, back when my dad was
still alive. Things like silver thrones, pointed ears, and fangs.
 Christian
and I knew we couldn’t fight the Organization on our own. We needed
help.
Di,
a mutual friend and anti-everything is a no-brainer, plus her taser
will come in handy. Frank, my absolute best friend will put his life
on the line for me. Ben and Coda, not to be outdone by also swore
their allegiance. Christian’s the only hold out. He knows what the
Organization is capable of and has the beaten body to prove it, but
when I want something, I usually get it.
 And
now, though I keep denying my “other” nature, every time I get
angry, each time I feel too much, the flickering happens. My Fae side
wants to break out. Will Christian, Frank, Di, and the rest of the
team accept me when they find out what I am?
Life
becomes tense on the Qualla Boundary, sparks fly, and the
Organization is about to smash in our door.
Inspired
by the Eastern Band of Cherokee legends, bestselling author KB Anne

Heir of Wings and Shadows
The Silver Fae Book 3
Betrayal
cuts deep. A Starr gone. A team betrayed.
 You
never know who your true friends are until a gun’s pointed at you.
One will take a bullet, and the other will pull the trigger. I
learned that lesson the hard way.
 When
the Organization decided they wanted me as an assassin, life took a
dive in the deep end. One, I learned I’m a Silverlain and
evidently, a faerie princess. Two, there was a secret cult run by
Jerry White but somehow related to the Organization and my
grandparents who all wanted me as their own personal…I don’t know
what. And three, Christian, well Christian betrayed me. I trusted
him, believed in him, loved him, and he tossed that love in the
garbage and aligned himself with Sami and Jovie instead.
Did
I mention they’re still alive and want me dead? You’d think I’d
sleep easier at night, but not so much.
Christian’s
betrayal hurt me. I will never give my heart away to anyone ever
again, and since I’m jailed by the Organization, I will become the
Fae assassin they want me to be. But Treadwell better watch his
throat because if I get close to him, I will rip it out myself.
Sami
is one of my guards. Talk about unfortunate circumstances.. But don’t
worry, I’ll create my own team, albeit I won’t be able to trust
any of them, but on the plus side, I’ll get my revenge. After all,
I am the Heir of Wings and Shadow.

He’ll hide his true nature from her for as long as he can, but eventually he’ll need to tell her. In every new story we pick up, we’re seeking an exciting original voice. So why are there still voices we don’t hear from nearly enough? Why are there characters that so rarely take centre stage? In this collection from Odd Voice Out press, we discover the stories of twelve teenagers who stand out from the crowd and who’ll not easily be forgotten.
With settings that range from Scotland to Syria, Mexico to Mauritius, Africa to Russia, these stories take us to all corners of the globe and into the lives of young people with their own unique circumstances and perspectives. Characters dealing with issues of culture and class, exploring their sexuality and gender identity, or letting us into their experiences with illness, disability or neurodiversity. Their tales span all genres and can’t be reduced to labels. These are stories about bending the rules and breaking the law. Stories of fighting for survival and finding your place in the world. Stories of family solidarity, unlikely friendships and aching first love told by teenagers who don’t always fit in and aren’t often heard.
With a foreword by award winning YA author Catherine Johnson, this anthology brings together the top ten stories of Odd Voice Out’s 2019 Not So Normal Narrators contest, as well as bonus stories from in-house authors Kell Cowley and K.C. Finn.

The Full Details
Your short stories with ‘odd voices’ must be written for a YA audience (that’s around 12 to 19 years old), but other than that they may be set in any genre or time period. This means that relevant content which is sexual, violent or contains extreme language will be accepted, provided it is somewhat moderated for a teen audience, rather than for adults (think about movies rated 15, compared to 18).
Our contest is open to writers aged fourteen and over from all nationalities and backgrounds (you should be at least fourteen years old by the closing date for entries). Entries must be no more 5,000 words long and be a minimum of 2000 words. Your entry should not have been previously published, self-published or accepted for publication in print or online, or have won or been highly placed (e.g. shortlisted or semi-finalist) in another competition at any other time. Longlisted stories are acceptable, provided they have not been in print or online in full.
After our closing date of Monday 31st August, we will select ten finalists to feature in an anthology collection that will be made available in ebook and print editions, to be released alongside our usual book range. The winning entry will also receive a £200 cash prize, whilst second and third place will receive £100 and £50 respectively. All ten finalists will also be invited to participate in social media promotions, live events, interviews and broadcasts as per the promotion schedule for the anthology.
To cover prize fees and reading time, there is a small entry fee of £4 per story, payable via PayPal at the time of entering. Authors may enter up to five different stories, but must pay the entry fee for each one as a separate entry and transaction.
Co-authored stories are accepted, up to a maximum of two authors per story, and in the event of winning, authors would share the prize money evenly.
Odd Voice Out is an independent literary press, publishing YA and crossover stories filled with unique characters thrown into extraordinary circumstances. Our genre-bending books take contemporary social and political themes and explore them through a range of historical, futuristic, surreal and supernatural settings. Our diverse young heroes are never your typical leading guys and girls, but are flawed insecure misfits struggling with everything from racial and sexual identity, to body issues, disabilities, mental health and worst of all, being teenagers growing up in worlds gone mad.

What readers say:
The series gave me a very Walking Dead comic feel. I loved it, and the characters were all very well written. The detail that went into all the characters was brilliant.

It was fast paced and kept you interested right to the last sentence.

I loved the strong female characters, Cassie being my absolute favourite, I love how she just gets things done and doesn’t let the male characters walk over her.

This series kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. I would have to stop to go to work, and all I could think of was the book and getting back to finding out what would happen next.

Inside
the Asylum
A
Kathy Ryan Novel #2
by
Mary SanGiovanni
Genre:
Supernatural Horror
Pub
Date: 5/7/19

From
“master of cosmic horror” (Library Journal) Mary
SanGiovanni, comes the latest terrifying novel featuring occult
specialist Kathy Ryan . . .
A
mind is a terrible thing to destroy . . .
Kathy
has been hired to assess the threat of patient Henry Banks, an inmate
at the Connecticut-Newlyn Hospital for the Criminally Insane, the
same hospital where her brother is housed. Her employers believe that
Henry has the ability to open doors to other dimensions with his
mind—making him one of the most dangerous men in modern history.
Because unbeknownst to Kathy, her clients are affiliated with certain
government organizations that investigate people like Henry—and the
potential to weaponize such abilities.
What
Kathy comes to understand in interviewing Henry, and in her
unavoidable run-ins with her brother, is that Henry can indeed use
his mind to create “Tulpas”—worlds, people, and creatures so
vivid they come to actual life. But now they want life outside of
Henry. And they’ll stop at nothing to complete their emancipation.
It’s up to Kathy—with her brother’s help—to stop them, and if
possible, to save Henry before the Tulpas take him over—and
everything else around him.

Behind
the Door
A
Kathy Ryan Novel #1

Occult
specialist Kathy Ryan returns in this thrilling novel of paranormal
horror from Mary SanGiovanni, the author of Chills .
. .
Some doors should
never be opened . . .
In the rural town of
Zarepath, deep in the woods on the border of New Jersey and
Pennsylvania, stands the Door. No one knows where it came from, and
no one knows where it leads. For generations, folks have come to the
Door seeking solace or forgiveness. They deliver a handwritten letter
asking for some emotional burden to be lifted, sealed with a mixture
of wax and their own blood, and slide it beneath the Door. Three days
later, their wish is answered—for better or worse.
Kari is a single
mother, grieving over the suicide of her teenage daughter. She made a
terrible mistake, asking the powers beyond the Door to erase the
memories of her lost child. And when she opened the Door to retrieve
her letter, she unleashed every sin, secret, and spirit ever trapped
on the other side.
Now, it falls to
occultist Kathy Ryan to seal the door before Zarepath becomes hell on
earth . . .
