Moon
Lighting

by
C.A. Gray

Adrenaline
is the cure for her body, mind, and soul.

If
she ignores the call of her ancestors, death is sure to
follow. If she puts aside the desires of her heart, it’s
guaranteed to break.

A
mild-mannered teacher by day.

A
rogue vigilante by night.

A cop
with an agenda.

Two
hearts intertwined by fate.

This magic-wielding
hybrid isn’t holding back when it comes to justice or love,
but can she have both?

I was diagnosed with
clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband
within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care,
coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up
a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have
found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only
for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big
difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in
perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail,
talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness
surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need
to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I
started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into
which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to
share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said
that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my
books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true
for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you
different.

I read books as well
as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have
created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the
strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who
writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to
today…

Goddess
of Limbo

The
Forgotten Splinters Chronicles Book 1

by
Lea Falls

Genre:
Dark Epic Fantasy

Free
will is a relic of the past. Souls have a prewritten path to heaven.
If they miss it, they are doomed to roam the lost realm of limbo as
splinters of their former selves or worse—as demons.

Their
only hope is the reaper Alames, whose own soul shattered when her
celestial lover, Balthos, usurped their creators to make them gods.
In her absence, he builds a pantheon of monsters and tricks the
mortals, whom he blames for his grief, into worshiping him. But when
a new generation defies Balthos’s law, Alames’s splinters appear
among them.

Brilliant
physicist Ally longs for progress and innovation, but the Council
controlling her nation strips the “Mad Princess” of power.
Pregnant and uncertain, the unrivaled Captain Se’azana abandons her
career for the false promises of love. The starving serf Richard
makes a deal with a Fae demon to save his son. And teenage rebel Vana
trades her guitar for a blade when faced with ruthless nobility.

When
worlds tear and hearts break, will they defy the gods’ narrative to
create a brighter future or will they obey the lies preached and doom
their soul forever?

Dark Fantasy

Amazon Review

Once
upon a time there was a girl who grew up near an enchanted wood. She
was the delight of her father. The most precious gem of his
heart.
And one evening in the spring, on her sixteenth
birthday,
she
clutched her infant daughter to her chest and ran for her life.

A
century later, a young girl named Maia found true love. Or at least
she thought she had before her happily ever after turned into cries
of, “
Witch!
Witch! Witch!

After an impulsive deal with a rumple goblin, Maia escapes the
pitchforks and torches by taking her chances in the enchanted
woods.

But
there’s a witch in the woods.

Cerelia
hasn’t seen another human soul for over one hundred years until a
beaten and bloody pregnant girl stumbles into her magical garden.
While fighting off witch-hunting villagers is one thing, dealing with
rumple goblins is quite another.
What
will be the cost of saving Maia’s child?

Mother is
the first book in the Witches of Grimm series. A gripping fairytale
retelling of Rapunzel’s Mother Gothel,

Once
upon a time, there was a beautiful, curious girl who lived in an

kept her in a tower, safe from anything that might ever harm her. And
it was there, beneath the bright spring sun, that the girl wished she

gothel, Cerelia, has always kept her safe from all the evils of the

As

her companion crows are no longer enough.

And
so she makes a wish…

This book, chronicling a forgotten part of Jewish history, follows the life of one extraordinary Jewish bard, and it is told with wry humor

A
Contrary Journey

with
Velvel Zbarzher, Bard

by
Jill Culiner

Genre:
Nonfiction Biography, History, Travel

Culiner’s
intrepid pursuit of the elusive troubadour and the lost world from
which he emerged enriches us with a double depiction of the turbulent
times and places of the bard’s era and the galloping
commercialization of our own. Like a chef who manages to document
great recipes before they disappear, Culiner serves us an utterly
delicious feast of flavours we do not want to lose.

Robin
Roger, writer, reviewer, Associate Publisher, New Jewish Press
2016-18

Invited
by Culiner to join her travels to find Velvel was a gift in isolated
pandemic times. Part history, part biography and part literature, the
writing poetically transfixed. Train rides, villages, and Velvel’s
life move between magical realism and extraordinary insights into
Jewish history generally missing in heritage tourism.

Daniel
J Walkowitz, Professor of History Emeritus, Professor of Social &
Cultural Analysis Emeritus New York University, author of
The
Remembered and Forgotten Jewish World

A
captivating romance, a thrilling mystery, a fascinating tour back and
forward in time, and so much more. Culiner takes us out of the
contemporary fast-paced, digital society and superbly redraws the
varied contours of the shtetls of Eastern European countries of yore
via one remarkable itinerant Jewish existence. The book brilliantly
brings back to life the unjustly forgotten Hebrew poet and Yiddish
melodrama author, Velvel Zbarzher, a significant precursor of
Yiddish theatre that moved from Galicia to Romania, the Russian Pale
of Settlement, Austria, and finally Turkey. A breathtaking read!

Dana
Mihailescu, Associate Professor of American Studies, University of
Bucharest

What
a beautiful book! The writing is clear and direct, the subject matter
is interesting and important, and the characters are lively and
realistically portrayed. In short, it’s a good piece of reporting,
and was entirely successful in wafting me to another time and place.

Barrington
James, former foreign correspondent for the Herald Tribune and UPI,
author of
The
Musical World of Marie Antoinette

The
Old Country, how did it smell? Sound? Was village life as cosy as
popular myth would have us believe? Was there really a strong sense
of community? Perhaps it was another place altogether.

In
19thc Eastern Europe, Jewish life was ruled by Hasidic rebbes or
the traditional Misnagedim,
and religious law dictated every aspect of daily life. Secular books
were forbidden; independent thinkers were threatened with moral
rebuke, magical retribution and expulsion. But the Maskilim,
proponents of the Haskalah or
Jewish Enlightenment, were determined to create a modern Jew, to
found schools where children could learn science, geography,
languages and history.

Velvel
Zbarzher, rebel and glittering star of fusty inns, spent his life
singing his poems to loyal audiences of poor workers and craftsmen,
and his attacks condemning the religious stronghold resulted in
banishment and itinerancy. By the time Velvel died in Constantinople
in 1883, the Haskalah had triumphed and the modern Jew had been
created. But modernisation and assimilation hadn’t brought an end to
anti-Semitism.

Armed
with a useless nineteenth-century map, a lumpy second-hand coat, and
an unhealthy dose of curiosity Jill Culiner trudged through the snow
in former Galicia, the Russian Pale, and Romania searching for
Velvel. But she was also on the lookout for a vanished way of life in
Austria, Turkey and Canada.

This
book, chronicling a forgotten part of Jewish history, follows the
life of one extraordinary Jewish bard, and it is told with wry humour
by award-winning Canadian writer Jill Culiner.

Born in New York, raised in Toronto, Jill Culiner has lived in England, Holland, Greece, Turkey, Germany and Hungary, keeping body and soul together by delivering newspapers, belly dancing, translating, tour guiding and a great many other tedious jobs. She presently resides in a small French village, similar to the not very pleasant one presented in her mystery, Slanderous Tongue.
For her non-fiction work, Finding Home in the Footsteps of the Jewish Fusgeyers, she crossed Romania on foot tracing the path of immigrants bound for North America at the end of the 19th century. The book won the Tannenbaum Prize for Canadian Jewish History in 2005 and was short-listed for the ForeWord magazine prize.
As a photographer, her exhibition concerning the First and Second World Wars, La Mémoire Effacée, has toured France, Canada and Hungary under the auspices of UNESCO and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As an artist/creator of social critical objects, her work has been exhibited throughout France and Germany, in Spain, England, Switzerland and Poland. It now fills La Boule d’Or, a former café/hotel transformed into a peculiar mini museum open to the public. Its wild garden (much to the distress of close neighbours) is a reserve for birds, butterflies, insects and reptiles.
She has spoken to genealogical and historical groups throughout the United States and Canada, has worked as a broadcaster for Radio France. An amateur musician (flute, piccolo, oboe, oboe d’amore, English horn) she plays in several orchestras and chamber groups.

The

by
Joanna White

Akari and Sakamoto Megumi just may be two women in over their

Akari is a samurai, the daughter of the Chief Advisor to the Emperor
of the Sakamoto clan. One day on a mission, she is captured by a
mysterious warrior and taken to an enemy camp—an enemy filled with

with weapons her people cannot hope to fight against.
 Yet
that is only the beginning of her journey, one filled with war and

daughter of the Emperor, training is impossible. When the Emperor is
assassinated, she is thrust onto a throne she never wanted. As

up to, instead of a weak woman unfit for the throne. Her
generals are waiting for her to make a grave mistake. Falling in love

waiting for.

Corruption
has touched worlds before, but this time, it will take more than a
few Chosen to stop it before it fills the hearts of everyone around

“Witches Tales/Cuentos de Brujitas”

Sunday, October 3rd, 2021

Witches Tale by A. C. Dye

Witches Tale came to be because of six little girls with very interesting fears or challenges that I hoped to quench in a cute yet poignant way. Halloween presented the opportunity since they all love this Holiday and were excited to be witches.

Since Spanish is my language, I decided to make my children’s books bilingual and enter that market.

In “Witches Tales/Cuentos de Brujitas” you will find:

A little witch who loves camping, reading her letters and colors. Therefore that tale has all of them included; in addition, you read it in a spooooooky voice.

A detective Witch that has to find all the things stolen from her family and friends, while learning a good lesson about respecting others property.

A Witch that is afraid of too many things to be healthy.

Another that loves to dance and had to figure how to include others in her performance.

The witch that doesn’t like to do chores and finds a way of doing them with a bit of magic as three new friends come to help.

The last Witch shows us that when we get scared, we may put ourselves in danger by staying alone. And that we can solve problems together and being safe is a better way.

Now, you have all six tales in one colorful book, “Witches Tales/Cuentos de Brujitas” by A. C. Dye

Purchase your copy here:
