The Cold Case; A family of secrets, a volatile marriage, a forbidden relationship and the mystery of the missing girl, whose body has never been found

Tuesday, May 25th, 2021

The
Cold Case

Billy
Jo McCabe Mystery Book 3

by
Lorhainne Eckhart

Genre:
Mystery, Thriller

What
happens when you stumble across a case that should never have been
closed?

Detective
Mark Friessen uncovers a disturbing mystery: A little girl was taken,
but when evidence disappeared, the case was closed.

While
cleaning out closed cases, Mark discovers a file on a missing
toddler, Gabby Martin. After reading the two pages within, he
realizes evidence is missing. The only interviews, by the detective
who previously had Mark’s job, was conducted with a bitter ex-wife
and a former business partner, both of whom pointed at the
father.

It
appears to have been an open and shut case. The father took Gabby in
retaliation for a bitter custody dispute with her mother, and then he
killed her. Although no body was found, the father was charged and
convicted, and the case was closed.

However,
an old woman the town has dubbed Crazy Carla disagrees. She says she
saw everything, and she contradicts the investigating detective’s
notes, yet the local cops pursued only one lead, the father.

As
Mark secretly delves into the closed case and realizes that nothing
adds up, he reaches out to social worker Billy Jo McCabe. Did social
services receive any suspicious reports about the girl or her
parents? What Billy Jo soon discovers is a family of secrets, a
volatile marriage, and a forbidden relationship—and the mystery of
the missing girl, whose body has never been found, becomes a case
that should never have been closed.

Love
on the Line

Women
at Work Book 1

by
Kirsten Fullmer

Genre:
Women’s Fiction, Romance

In
this epic and unique love story set in the wild mountains of West
Virginia, a young woman and her unlikely friends find their way
through multiple job hazards and terrible working conditions to
achieve the unexpected.

Andrea
never thought she’d live in a camp trailer or work outdoors in
inhospitable climates; but eager to leave the stress and tedium of
grad-school behind, she sets off with her estranged grandpa, Buck, to
build a pipeline through the rugged mountains of West Virginia. She’s
determined to understand the man and the family divide that drove him
away. Once the job starts, she forms an unlikely friendship with
Nick, the rough and tumble foreman of the bending crew. Most of the
guys aren’t willing to accept her, and Rooster, the handsome,
cocky, tie-in foreman, is determined that she’s a ridiculous
distraction.

But
building a pipeline is fraught with danger, fatigue, and
confrontation as egos collide. Caught up in the all-male social
microcosm, Andrea can’t help but understand the pecking order, and
she’s at the bottom. Being a woman makes it even more unlikely
she’ll be accepted. Buck proves to be a taskmaster, but a
kindhearted teddy-bear of a man under a gruff exterior, and Andrea
comes to love him, opening herself up to the pain of his
past.

Rooster
and Andrea are drawn to each other, yet they know an on-the-job
romance will only cause problems. Rooster is tormented by his own
past, and determined to prove himself to Buck, a pipeline ledged.
Messing with the old man’s granddaughter is a line Rooster refuses
to cross. But as Andrea shows herself to be a hard worker and a
valuable member of the crew, she earns Rooster’s respect and he
can’t keep his distance. It seems the couple can’t go back, they
can’t move forward, and they can’t let go. Both will have to make
sacrifices and take a chance on ruining their credibility in order to
be together.

The

A
tragedy during the 1868 Oxford-Cambridge Boat race puts Mycroft
Holmes’ reputation on the line.

When
Mycroft Holmes identifies a drowning victim, he is drawn into a
situation that could destroy not only Lord Surminster’s name, but his
own reputation as well. If ruled a suicide, the lord’s assets will
be returned to the Crown, leaving his mother and siblings destitute.
Should that happen, the victim’s sister has threatened to drag
Mycroft’s good name through the mire. Will Sherlock be able
determine what happened before more than one family is destroyed?

Raven
Daughter Book 3

by
A.D. Trosper

Genre:
YA Paranormal Fantasy Romance

This
is the third and final book in the Raven Daughter series.

I’m
fully bound to Caius and I don’t regret it. I carry more than his
blood within me and I don’t regret that either.

Although
we found safety, we can’t hide because souls aren’t the only thing
at stake anymore and time is running out as we race toward the dagger
and whatever future comes after.

The
veils themselves are weakening. Everyone knows my secret. Old wounds
are forcing me to stop and face them. And now, I have more to fight
for than the Lost. I’ve never had so much lose.

Betrayed

Raven
Daughter Book 2

I
was never supposed to go to the Between. I was never supposed to fall
in love with Caius. And yet, I’ve done both. Since stepping through
that portal, I’ve done a lot of things I never thought I
would.

Like
coming face-to-face with a god. Or encountering the one person in all
the worlds I didn’t want to meet. Or having a fairy floor me with
just a few words and realizing things are a lot more complicated than
just stopping the Lost.

Everything
is changing, secrets are revealed, and something that shouldn’t
even be possible has become reality. I never imagined any of this
could happen. My imagination was clearly lacking.

Unveiled

Raven
Daughter Book 1

***Raven
Daughter is a completed series of three books.

I’m
Jo and the death of my mother revealed a whole lot of secrets she was
keeping. Like the fact that my sperm-donor father was a freaking
angel who couldn’t keep it in his pants and slept with a woman he
should never have been with. Or the fact I’m not mortal and would
one day be a reaper of souls.

Reaping
souls, now there is something I never dreamed I would do, but here I
am doing just that. Or at least I was, until souls started becoming
Lost. And that’s when things went south.

When
I stupidly agreed to help discover what was causing the Lost without
reading the fine print first. Now a lot of immortals would like to
see me dead because of what I might become. To top it off, I ended up
blood bound to a powerful half-demon who is supposed to be a reaper’s
sworn enemy. Funny thing is he may be the only one I can
trust.

Warning:
Although this series deals with angels and demons, there is nothing
religious about them. Anyone looking for that within the pages of
these books will be disappointed.

I
write historical romance fiction novels set in the 1800s forward with
a twist of suspense. All of my characters and stories that are
portrayed in my books are fictitious. I am a native of Texas, but I
have traveled throughout America and beyond. As a dreamer, I love to
visit new places where I can imagine a heroine meeting a hero in a
special way. I’m an avid reader of (all sorts) and I love to
write.

I married my high school
sweat-heart and after having raised three sons and one daughter, our
love for each other remains unshaken. Now we enjoy our eight
grandchildren. We can send them home, but we’re always happy for
their return.

Outside of my
family activities, I sing with the Silver Belles at my church and
hate to miss even one practice. The local chapter of RWA is also at
the top of my list of pleasures. It keeps me grounded with craft and
connected with other writers.

Most
of all, I enjoy going fishing with my husband. Give me a pole and
leave me alone to bask in the sun, listening to water gurgle along
the riverbanks while allowing my mind to float away to some distant
place. Ah! Perfect.

Rodney
Strong quit a 9-5 job in 2016 to finally pursue his life long dream
of becoming a writer (he still has the very first play he wrote at
age 6). He lives in Porirua, New Zealand, with his wife, two
children, and two cats (plus a 3rd cat that is trying desperately to
be adopted). When he’s not writing he attempts to stay away from
chocolate, runs (sometimes), reads, and enjoys spending time with his
young children (who contribute a lot to the running and craving for
chocolate).

He always has a
couple of projects on the go, but for now is focusing on his series
of cozy mysteries.

One of his
cats likes to help with the process by sitting on the laptop, while
the other likes nesting on his shoulders (which was cute when he was
a kitten, but now the cat is 9 years old, is less so).

Return to Edisto Island is the story of a young woman’s difficult decision to run from threat and danger

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021

Claire
at Edisto

The
Edisto Trilogy Book 1

by
Lin Stepp

Genre:
Christian Contemporary Romance

Standing
in grief and shock at the grave of her young husband, Claire Avery
wonders what she and her young daughters will do now. They live in
the church parsonage they need to vacate. She hasn’t worked since her
marriage twelve years ago. Old issues and complications hinder
relationships with her family. Struggling for answers, Claire accepts
her brother-in-law’s offer to stay at his beach house at Edisto to
give her a season to heal and think. But even the peace and beauty of
the coastal island bring new problems along with unexpected joys as
Claire seeks to find her way.

Parker
Avery always promised his brother Charles he would look after Claire
if anything happened to him. Charles stood by him three years ago
when his wife Ann died and Parker is determined now to be a help to
Claire and the girls. As time passes, instead of feeling like a hero,
he feels like a heel instead as he realizes he’s developing feelings
for his own brother’s widow. To make things worse, he watches with
pain and jealousy as Miles Lawrence waltzes into Claire’s life. What
can he expect though? It hardly seems right that Claire, even after a
season of mourning, would ever fall in love with her own
brother-in-law.

Return
to Edisto

The
Edisto Trilogy Book 2

Return
to Edisto Island in the rich, Lowcountry story of a young woman’s
difficult decision to run from threat and danger, changing the course
of her well-ordered life and, in turn, the life of the young man who
loved and lost her.

It
was a long trip back to Edisto Island, South Carolina, and the beach
house that shaped so much of Mary Helen Avery’s early life. Now her
mind flashed between anger and hurt over the difficult situation
she’d left behind at the job she loved.  Was she doing the
right thing to leave? Should she have stayed to fight? She hoped at
the quiet, beloved island she knew so well, she’d find the answers
she needed and peace from all this turmoil.

J.T.’s
heart took a familiar lurch when he saw the car with New Jersey
plates parked at the Avery’s beach house. Even after ten years, the
memory of Mary Helen Avery still tormented him.  Finding her on
the porch weeping lit old fires he thought long dead. Was he a fool
to hope for something more between them with all their problems of
the past? Probably so, but if she stayed long enough, he’d find one
more chance to try.
