Cooking on the Light Side by Thienna Ho, Ph.D.

A review for readers

This isn’t just any cooking book. It has facts about the many things we eat and inadvertently put in our bodies. Many say food is to keep us alive. Thienna Ho has found that it is much more than that. Food is that which helps us live productive and healthy lives. We are what we eat and, if we eat junk, our body will reflect this fact. Our hair, skin and energy will suffer if we are not giving our body the right kinds of food. Not only our inner and outer bodies will suffer (more…)

Interview of Steve Westover author of Return of the Mystic Gray

Saturday, April 27th, 2013

Steve thank you for visiting our blog. How long have you been writing?

I started writing my first novel in 2009 after having a really cool dream. I had vivid characters in my mind that I felt I needed to write about. The story came along as I was exploring the characters and it was a lot of fun to see how things developed. I was writing to find out what happened next as if watching a TV show or a movie. I was shy about letting people know I was trying to write a book because I’d never attempted anything like it before. (more…)

A readersFavorite. com review

This is a fantasy novel in which the author has creates a new world where people don’t graduate from school until they turn 90 years old. It flows well, although the plot would work better if more action was added.

The story follows a young man, Aedon, who will find out on his graduation day if he is the son of the king. For many years he has been the object of ridicule because of this belief. He is sure that if he has a perfect score on his graduation his father (more…)

Kaylen’s Rising author, Yves Robichaud, is visiting today

Saturday, April 20th, 2013

Yves, is so good to have you with us. I think this is the first time I interview a Canadian Author. So welcome to my blog. Well lets get to know you and your book…

1) Yves, tell us where you were born:
I was born at the Moncton hospital in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. I have lived most of my life in this area and I still do.

2) New Brunswick, a very inspiring name. I could come up with a story with the name alone. 🙂  Who or What inspired you to write this book?

Echoes by Nancy Campbell Allen

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

This real mystery based novel had me glued to its pages. Nancy did a great job of making old time Italy and present day USA flow swiftly alongside each other. The characters are as likable as a real person with a real life would be. I enjoyed the way the suspense keeps you guessing in every chapter.

The story is that of a young man, Jon, who has known nothing but hard life since age 3, when (more…)

Murder by Design by Betsy Brannon Green

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

This is an intriguing tale of a small town in Midway, Georgia. It is beautifully written by a great author. The main character is a young divorced woman by the name of Kennedy. She is a university student that works as the head librarian and also part time in a storage unit, where she lives. Her mother is the sweetest woman and many times too helpful when she takes Kennedy’s time for granted.

Because of her divorce from the sheriff in town, Kennedy is looked upon (more…)

Visiting our blog is Scott Bryan author of the Dark Beginnings Series

Saturday, April 6th, 2013

Scoot Bryan is the author of the Dark Beginnings Series and is visiting us this weekend.

It is good to have you Scott. Tell us how long have you been writing?

Since 1998 when I joined an online writer’s group.  I began my current set of novels in October of 2004.

Nice that is the same year I started too. Tell us where you were born and where you live now.

I was born in Pasadena California. I moved all over the western US (including Hawaii!) until I finally settled in Northern Utah.

Hi neighbor! What is the name of your new book?

The one that is currently with the beta readers, and almost ready to be e-published, is NIGHT CHILDREN: DARK CHANGES. It still has some editing to do and so I’ll refrain from saying too much about it at this time.  It is the second book in my Dark Beginnings Series.

However I can talk about the first book in the series which is currently out wherever ebooks are sold.

So interesting; tell us more about it. Perhaps a back cover blurb?

Annabelle and Roland’s lives changed forever after they died. Annabelle is terrified of facing Dominic, the master vampire who killed their parents. She’d rather get a stake to the heart than fight him but a confrontation is inevitable. Roland is thirsty for the battle, longing for revenge. They train to survive Dominic and waves of his loyal werewolves, vampires, sasquatches and dark witches.

As if their new undead lives weren’t complicated enough, they must rescue a real witch from the Salem Witch Trials and dodge lethal attacks from a cruel monster hunter.

They have a short season to master their new abilities, including transforming into bats and mesmerizing others, before Dominic and his dark warriors launch their final, devastating attack.

Paranormal tale… Goody we like them. Is there a book trailer for your book?

Not yet but I’d love to learn how to make one!

I could help on that… Do you have a favorite character, why?

Annabelle Foresight, my main protagonist.  Because no matter what is thrown her way, she seems to be able to push back her fears and face it. She hasn’t let her new undead life change her.  She refuses to give in to her cravings and always stands ready to defend those weaker and in need of help, especially children.

What kind of impact do you expect your works to have in the reader’s lives?

I hope that kids who suffer neglect or abuse, bullying or any turmoil, will see how Ann faces the odds despite her fears and decide they, too, can face their personal “monsters”.

I believe that is a very important goal in this day and age. Do you have any advice for authors trying to break into the industry?

Write! Just write and keep persistent at it.

Amen to that. What are your new year’s goals?

I would like to publish DARK CHANGES, finish DARK LOSS and finish Myths.

Wow, that is quite a few big goals. Where can we find your book?

Amazon Kindle and paperback…

Barns and for the Nook…

Also on iBooks. Search for it by name… NIGHT CHILDREN: DARK BIRTH

Here’s my website…

Thank you Scott for your visit. We wish you the best to you and all your Darkness’s friends 🙂

A review.

This tale contains unnecessary swearing but it is not overbearing. It would work better with more dialogue so the information doesn’t feel to overwhelming. The method utilized usually slows down the tale and may lead it to become boring. You don’t want to lose your readers.

The story starts with a great first paragraph; (more…)
